Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using ScaleRecipe, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, do not use the app. You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement, or use the app with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms. The app is not directed to children under 13.

License Grant

Subject to these Terms and applicable Apple usage rules, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use ScaleRecipe on iOS devices you own or control for personal, non-commercial use only. No ownership rights are transferred. Any license restriction applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

App Purpose

ScaleRecipe: Recipe Scaler adjusts ingredient quantities from an original serving count to a target serving count, with fraction formatting for scaled measurements.

Core features work offline and store app content on your device. Pro purchases, entitlement verification, and restoration may require an internet connection. Features and availability may change, subject to your applicable consumer rights.

User Responsibilities

You must check ingredient entries, units, conversions, rounding, and scaled results before cooking. Cooking times, pan sizes, seasoning, leavening, and safe preparation methods may not scale proportionally. The app does not identify allergens or guarantee nutritional accuracy or food safety.

You are responsible for accurate inputs, checking all outputs, securing your device, and maintaining appropriate backups or independent records. Notifications and timers may be delayed or unavailable because of device settings, permissions, battery restrictions, operating-system behavior, or technical faults. We do not guarantee delivery of any reminder or preservation of data.

Prohibited Use

You must not use the app for unlawful activities, misuse its features, gain unauthorized access, bypass subscription controls, interfere with operation, distribute malicious code, infringe others’ rights, or copy, resell, or commercially exploit the app. You must not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it except where applicable law expressly permits this despite a contractual restriction.

Intellectual Property

The ScaleRecipe code, design, branding, and original content are owned by Nolan Boxill operating as Boxill Apps or their licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You retain ownership of content you enter and are responsible for having the necessary rights to use it.

Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ScaleRecipe IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant accurate or complete information, calculations, recommendations, records, or reminders; uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free operation; compatibility with every device or future iOS version; correction of every defect; or achievement of any particular real-world outcome. You use the app and rely on its outputs at your own risk, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NOLAN BOXILL, BOXILL APPS, AND THEIR LICENSORS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE APP, THESE TERMS, OR RELIANCE ON APP OUTPUTS. This includes, to the extent legally excludable, recipe or measurement errors, wasted ingredients, allergic reactions, foodborne illness, or unsuccessful cooking results.

These exclusions apply regardless of the legal theory, including contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, even if we were advised of the possibility of loss and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the aggregate liability of Nolan Boxill and Boxill Apps for all claims arising from or relating to ScaleRecipe will not exceed the greater of CAD $50 or the amount you paid for the app and its Pro subscription during the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or remedies that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer protections, liability for fraud, or liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where its exclusion is prohibited. Where an exclusion is unenforceable, it applies only to the maximum lawful extent.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Nolan Boxill, operating as Boxill Apps, and their licensors and service providers from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, and reasonable legal expenses arising from your unlawful use or misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own unlawful conduct or liability that cannot be shifted to you under applicable law.

Pro Subscriptions and Apple Billing

ScaleRecipe offers an optional Pro subscription for saved recipes and advanced features. The purchase screen identifies the included features, billing period, price, and any trial before you subscribe. Payment is charged through the Apple App Store to your Apple Account; RevenueCat helps verify purchase status and manage Pro entitlements.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled through your Apple Account subscription settings before renewal. If a free trial is offered, it converts to the paid subscription shown at purchase unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings under your Apple Account’s Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current paid period, subject to Apple’s rules.

Refund requests are handled by Apple under its refund policies and applicable law. We cannot directly issue App Store refunds. Price changes and any required notice or consent follow Apple’s procedures and applicable law. Restore eligible purchases using the Apple Account that made them. Apple’s applicable usage rules and standard licensed application terms also apply; Apple is not the operator of this app or responsible for our app support.

Privacy and Data

Our ScaleRecipe Privacy Policy explains local storage, support communications, aggregated Apple analytics, and Apple and RevenueCat subscription processing. Do not assume that local data can be recovered after deletion, device loss, or corruption.

Termination

To the extent permitted by law, we may suspend or terminate your license or access for violations of these Terms, unlawful use, or conduct that threatens the app or others. You may stop using the app at any time. After termination, you must cease use. Subscription cancellation remains your responsibility through Apple; any mandatory refund rights remain intact. Intellectual-property, disclaimer, liability, indemnification, and dispute provisions survive termination as applicable.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically and publish the revised version with an updated date. We will provide additional notice of material changes where required by law. Continued use after the revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law. If you disagree, stop using the app and manage any subscription through Apple. Changes do not remove accrued rights or mandatory consumer protections.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Subject to mandatory local rights, disputes may be brought in the competent courts of Alberta. This clause does not deprive you of non-waivable protections or rights to bring proceedings in your jurisdiction where applicable law provides them.

General Provisions

If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited to the lawful extent and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms constitute the agreement concerning app use, alongside applicable Apple terms and purchase disclosures, without overriding rights that cannot be waived.
